Kurzbeschreibung
Shinichi Kudo, ein 17 jähriger Schülerdetektiv, der jeden kniffligen Fall auf die Schnelle löst, ist einmal zu neugierig und trifft auf 2 Männer in schwarz, die ihm ein Gift einflösen, das ihn eigentlich töten soll, doch nur schrumpfen lässt. Der kleine Shinichi, der nur geschrumpft ist und all seine Kombinationsgabe behalten hat, wendet sich an die einzige Person, die ihm noch glaubt, dass er gerade geschrumpft ist. Professor Agasa, ein verrückter Professor, der ihm hilft seine Identität zu bewahren. Denn wie er herausfindet, gehören die beiden Männer in schwarz zu einer gemeinen, mysteriösen und skrupellosen Organisation. Die, wie er sie nennt, "Männer in schwarz". Er will so schnell wie möglich wieder groß werden, aber will nicht, dass seine Freundin Ran erfährt, dass er jetzt ein 6-jähriger, kleiner Junge ist.
In der Eile als er Ran bei Professor Agasa traf, nannte er sich Conan (wegen Arthur, Conan Doyle- Kriminalautor) Edogawa (wegen Edogawa Rampoo- japanischer Kriminalautor) und lebt jetzt bei seiner Freundin und ihrem Vater und Privatdetektiv Kogoro Mori in seiner Detektei. Beide wissen nichts von Conans/Shinichis Erlebnis. Kogoro ist kein guter Privatdetektiv, doch möchte Conan über Kogoros Detektei Informationen über die Männer in schwarz herausfinden. So hilft er. mit Hilfe einem von Professor Agasa angefertigten Stimmentransposer und einer Betäubungsuhr, die Fälle im Namen Kogoro Moris alle Verbrechen und Morde zu lösen und gleichzeitig das Gegengift und Informationen über die mysteriösen Männer in schwarz herauszufinden. Was nicht so leicht ist, denn er ist jetzt im körper eines 6-Jährigen und muss noch mal die Grundschule machen.
